Travel Insurance is offered for all travelers coming from the United States. Any policy must be purchased within 15 days of initial payment (of airfare if part of the total package). Details of policy, customization and pricing are available upon request.
What are the exact dates of departure/arrival of the trip?
The departure date from the United States is Thursday March 12th, arriving in Rio de Janeiro on Friday March 13th. The departure date from Curitiba – Brazil is Sunday March 22nd, arriving in the U.S. on Monday March 23rd.
Does Brazil require Americans to have a visa to enter the country?
Yes, Brazil requires visitors to have a passport with a valid a visa to enter the country. It is valid for 90 days and it should be issued 2 months before leaving (by January of 2026). The Brazil visa can be issued electronically (e-visa $80) or on paper/passport ($120). Assistance is available for a small fee, if needed.
What will be the average temperature in Brazil at that time of year?
In Rio, you should expect temps to be in the mid-70’s for a low and mid-80’s for a high but we are at the beach, so it could get to the 90’s. As we head south, the temperature will drop to the low-70’s to mid-80’s, and in the evening, it cools down to the 60’s. At the island - Ilha do Mel will be warmer and in Curitiba, a little cooler.
Are all meals included in the price of the trip?
In Rio, only breakfast is included (expect a large meal at all hotels in Brazil), lunch and dinner, and drinks are not included. On the island of Ilha do Mel, all meals and drinks are included, some alcoholic beverages too, but extra drinks will be separate. In Curitiba, only breakfast is included (large breakfast), lunch and dinner, and drinks are not included.
What is the exact price of the Brazil Retreat?
A deposit of $750.00 is due upon booking with subsequent installments of $408.00 from October through March, on the 1st of the month. If booked later than October, the deposit and 1st monthly payment will need to be paid at once.
When does the last payment for the trip need to be made?
The last payment is due on March 1st and as mentioned above, will not include flights. The deposit is due as soon as you book your spot.
What's the currency exchange, dollars to the Brazilian currency, Reais?
As of August 19th, US$1 dollar = R$5.37 so about 5 times more. You can use your credit card normally in Brazil, you'll just need to notify your bank so your card is not blocked. Your debit card works as a credit card in Brazil.
Will my cell phone work in Brazil?
Yes, but be sure you have the correct plan on your phone to avoid international charges. You can also use WiFi to make calls using the application called WhatsApp.
What is the estimated cost of flights to go to Brazil?
While we are currently tracking itineraries that match our travel days from Indianapolis (IND) to Rio (GIG) in the mid $1,200’s, airfare rates cannot be guaranteed until the time of purchase. If you wish to upgrade, that amount will increase accordingly.
How many pieces of luggage can I take on the plane and how heavy can each piece be?
The airline company and the frequent flyer status will determine how much you are allowed to take on a flight. Example, what you may be able to take on an economy for at American Airlines may differ from Delta. Same thing with economy vs. business/first class. *Important note about luggage – keep in mind that you will have some assistance but be prepared to carry your own luggage and at the island you will be dragging your suitcase in the sand. You will be able to do laundry at the hotels in Rio and Curitiba, in case you need.
Are single rooms going to be available?
Yes, they are but we strongly recommend sharing it with a roommate so you have someone with you for your own safety (buddy system).
